Designed for those entering grades 6 & 7.Juniors sleep in cabins or tent - cabins, unless otherwise noted in grid below. We update the availability weekly, so if an event is full and you are limited in your ability to choose other events, please call us (908-852-2401 or 908-852-2349). Occasionally people withdraw their application, or we open additional units.
Junior Village -These are the backbone events for juniors. All activities are “challenge by choice,” in that campers who may not be ready for a particular event (like ropes or boating) may opt out and still experience the support of the group. Ideal for returning and first-time campers. Cabins are the home base for these events. 6 Days, offered each week. 4 - Night Junior Village -Just like regular junior village, this 4 night event (June 29 - July 3) is being offered to allow campers the opportunity to be home to spend the 4th of July holiday weekend with family. 4 days, offered once. Sports Zone -Each day of the week campers will experience a different game -- basketball, volleyball, kickball, and flag football, or other games of their choosing. Still enjoy all other camp activities. Event #1210 is housed in tent-cabins; Event #5210 in cabins. 6 Days, offered twice. Waterworld -For those who love the water. We’ll spend extra time at the pool and lake, and do lots of other water-oriented activities, plus still have plenty of time for traditional camp favorites. No specific swimming ability necessary. 6 days, offered twice. Archery Skills -Learn archery fundamentals with daily practice at the camp range. There is still plenty of time to partake of all your favorite camp activities. Housed in tent-cabins. 6 Days, offered twice. Girl Power -This unit for girls will celebrate what it means to be a girl today. Campers will talk in age-appropriate terms about body image, conflict resolution, forming and expressing opinions, and nurturing relationships. We’ll also laugh, sing, talk about normal girl stuff, and have fun understanding ourselves as unique and loved by God. Design a group tee shirt (bring a white tee). Housed in cabins. 6 Days, offered twice. Horseback -Each morning campers receive lessons in riding and care of horses at a nearby stable. Indoor riding facilities are available during rainy days. Spend the remainder of the day doing camp activities. For beginner and intermediate riders. Event 1210 is housed in cabins and Event 6210 is housed in tent-cabins. 6 Days, offered once. Extreme Camp -Come and explore the extreme world of Camp Johnsonburg. Campers in this unit will participate in normal camp activities taken to the extreme, with events like slip ‘n slide, polar archery, and more. The sky is the limit! 6 days, offered twice. Housed in tents. Safe Sitter -Designed for those who are already babysitting, or who desire to begin this age old first job. Using the nationally recognized “Safe Sitter” curriculum, campers will learn to handle crisis and to keep children safe and secure. Campers will also be trained in resuce breathing and participate in other regular camp activities. 6 days, offered once. Clowning -Clown camp combines regular camp activities with workshops on character development, physical comedy, and magic. Gary and Ella Filson bring a depth of experience to this terrific event. As part of the week, campers visit a nursing home to practice their new skills and entertain residents. 6 Days, offered once All for Boys -This unit will give boys the opportunity to be boys. We\'ll do a lot of fun activities and spend time talking in age appropriate terms about being a young man in today\'s society. 6 days, offered once. Cookout Camp -This explores the variety of dishes you can make (and the ways you can make them) over an open fire - like dutch oven lasagna. We’ll cook out at least one meal a day, and still have plenty of time to participate in favorite camp activities like swimming, boating, and hiking. 6 days, offered once. Basketball Skills -An opportunity to drill on basketball fundamentals: rules, ball handling, shooting, and teamwork. We maintain the non-competitive environment.
