Lake

Our lake goes by the name of ‘Glovers Pond.’ At the rear of the Johnsonburg property, the lake sits behind the Dining Hall. We have a large dock used for launching boats and other watercrafts as well as a small fishing dock. The lake at Johnsonburg is as iconic as it is beautiful! The lake is nearly 80 feet at its deepest depth; we require all visitors to wear a personal flotation device on our docks for water safety purposes. In the Summer, our campers and other guests enjoy swimming in the lake!

Pool

The sunny pool is located next to Middle Meadow, in the center of campus! Because our pool is not heated, we use it primarily for swimming and other camp activities in the warmer months. This is a great location to host a variety of events, and we always have trained & certified lifeguards on hand. If you think you could use our expansive pool for one of your own events, call our office to find out more about renting this space.

Outdoor Chapels and Labyrinth

We have two outdoor chapels to help assist in your spiritual development and needs. The Lakeside Chapel located near the waterfront is a great open space to worship. It is accessible by car and can have electricity available for live streaming or amplification. This is the perfect spot for a larger gathering or an outdoor worship service combined with a church picnic.(See picture, below left)

The Old Chapel is located in a quieter location, off the trail to the labyrinth, near Cedar Meadow Lodge. Surrounded by rocks and daffodils in the spring, this quaint chapel is a favorite for small weddings and worship.

The outdoor labyrinth is located in an old-growth forested area of Johnsonburg.

A labyrinth is a meditative practice, spiritual meditation. A maze with one way in and out. Walking the labyrinth provides a peaceful and mindful setting to hear God’s voice and to reflect. It is a great opportunity to unwind from the many stresses and pressures of life. The Labyrinth was built in 2000 as a leadership project using rocks from the grounds.

Johnsonburg also has an indoor tarp labyrinth for harsh weather and easy accessibility. Tealight candles can be used to illuminate this experience which works well in the gymnasium or the Dining Hall (due to the large size). This labyrinth is walked without shoes on.
