Men’s Retreat

NEW for the 2026 Programming Year :
the Men’s Retreat

The Men’s Retreat at Johnsonburg is a wonderful opportunity to gather with other men in Christian community and deepen your personal faith through scripture exploration, worship, small group discussion, and activities in God’s creation. Each Men’s Retreat is built around a theme introduced by a guest speaker and is sure to invite deeper consideration of our identity in Christ. There are outdoor and indoor activities balanced with ample free time for reflection, prayer, exploration of our 300 acres of lake and forested trails, and the individual space you may need. Whether you come alone or gather a group from your church or local community to participate together—you are sure to make new friends and find rest in this sacred space.

THEME

The Establishment Clause : God’s Law, America’s Law, and Prophetic Citizenship

America is simmering with political tensions these days, and as men of the church for this day and age, we have a duty to meet this moment well. This retreat will focus on growing together in community as we examine the historic relationship of the church and state in the United States, examining the triumphs, failings, and the uncomfortable gray areas. All of this will be guided by the Old Testament prophets who call us to always follow the higher law of God.

GUEST SPEAKER

Pastor George Erlandson

Pastor George Erlandson

George Erlandson is the pastor of Community Presbyterian Church of Edison where he has been serving for six years. He loves theology, and has a lifelong love and fascination with history which he believes has subtle and large consequences all around us.

We welcome Rev. Mark Lyndaker-Studer
as our Men’s Retreat Worship Leader

Mark is the pastor at Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church in Warminster, PA where he has served since 2007. Mark believes the church is called to be a place where everyone knows they belong, that all are defined by God’s grace and love, and that the Church is at its best when it is focused on extending the grace and love of God to a broken world in need of healing and hope. Mark and his wife Anita have two children, Emma and Annalyn. The joy of Mark’s life is spending time with his family, both at home and traveling. Mark loves playing guitar, listening to music, and was in a prog rock band with his brother in the 1990s. He loves going to concerts, great movies, reading, basketball, and is a fan of the San Diego Padres and Sacramento Kings.
