Johnsonburg Seeks New Executive Director
Located on 400 acres in picturesque northwestern New Jersey, the Johnsonburg Presbyterian Center is a resource of the seven New Jersey presbyteries, Presbyterian Church (USA). Our mission is to support and extend the ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in New Jersey by providing a special place and challenging programs where all people may encounter Christ, experience a supportive community, and grow in self-esteem.

In short, Johnsonburg provides practical faith development resources for congregations. We currently serve approximately 1600 campers during our residential summer camp program and another 9,000 people during the year.

Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for the leadership and overall direction of the Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center, working in close partnership with and under the auspices of the Board of Trustees of Presbyterian Camps and Conferences, Inc. Give intensive and specific attention to the relationship of the Center to the grassroots community it serves: the 380 Churches, the seven NJ Presbyteries, and the Synod of the Northeast.
Qualifications

- Be of sound Christian faith and good Christian character.
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- Have training in Christian Education and/or theology.
- Have five years experience in directors position in camp, conference, and retreat center operation or extensive experience as a manager/director/supervisor in a related field such as financial planning, development, marketing or education.
- Have an appreciation and an understanding of the role of camps and retreats in the lives of the Church and individual Christians, and a sense of the role of the church in society.
- Have exceptional ability to understand people and to manage the diverse challenges of residential youth and adult activities
- Must be a self-motivated, creative thinker with the ability to conceive of new ways of meeting emerging needs of the Church.
- Have organizational skills that enable him/her to achieve specific goals.
- Be positive, outgoing, and enthusiastic.
- Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of human development and group dynamics--youth and adult.
Relationships

- Responsible to the Corporate Board of Trustees representing the seven NJ presbyteries.
- Maintains close communication with trustee committee chairs (program, personnel, development, and finance and property) regarding issues of relevance to their areas of responsibility.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with state-level codes, laws and directives (e.g., NJ Department of Health, DYFS, NJDEPE) and with federal guidelines (e.g., Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act).
- Serves as the spokesperson with the press on matters that have legal implications.
Position Responsibilities
- Directs the overall operation of the Center, looking to the Associate Executive Director and Program Director for the daily management of on-site details. Serve as head of staff.
 - Maintains an active positive relationship with the seven Presbyteries served by the camp, meeting regularly with key leaders in each judicatory to better integrate camp services with church needs.
- Provides leadership for goal-setting and long-range planning of the ministry to ensure that it responds to needs and trends within church and community, and also defines new modes of service.
- Establishes and implements a long-term financial development plan.
- Actively raises funds to support the camp and conference center by planning fund-raising initiatives directed toward individuals, church groups, and private foundations.
- Oversees and approves marketing strategies and materials used to promote and interpret the Camp and Conference Center to prospective campers, volunteers, counselors, and church and non- church clients.
- Exercises financial planning, management, and oversight of all aspects of Center operations. Serves as corporate signatory on all accounts --including deposits, disbursements, savings, payroll, and investments.
- Establishes summer and year-round programs such that the highest quality and relevance of programs and services are maintained, and that the Center remains faithful to our Christian beliefs.
 - Provides staff support to the Board of Trustees (Presbyterian Camps and Conferences, Inc.) and its committees and serves as designee of the corporation in legal, tax, and banking matters.
- Carries out the policies of Presbyterian Camps and Conferences, Inc.
- Ensures that all licenses, certifications, and insurance policies remain intact, without interruption.
- Actively participates in professional and church-related national camping organizations (PCCCA, NJACA).
- Recruits, selects, trains, supervises, and enlists key department heads (e.g., Program Director).
