Johnsonburg Names New Executive Director

The staff and the board of trustees of Johnsonburg Presbyterian Center are happy to welcome Mike Socia as our new Executive Director. Mike has been involved in Christian camping for twenty-six plus years, most recently completing an interim position at Redwood Glen Camp and Conference Center in Loma Mar, California.

Before his time in California, Mike served as Director of Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center in Massachusetts. Mike and his wife, Kathy, have recently moved to Andover and look forward to making New Jersey their home. They have two grown daughters, Jill and Bethany; a granddaughter, Ivy, and expect a new grandson in June.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, bike riding, and walking. In addition, he is an avid sports fan and likes to play golf.

Mike is passionate about the camping ministry and the growth that can happen in a person's life as a result of that experience. He brings a level of expertise in Christian camping that will support the current Johnsonburg staff and programs, as well as plan for the future. Among Mike's responsibilities will be improving the financial strength of the camp so that Johnsonburg can continue to welcome people of all ages and abilities and provide them with a special place to build their faith.

Mike is anxious to visit every congregation to share the resources that Johnsonburg has to offer and to listen to the needs of each individual church. Starting immediately, he is accepting invitations to visit your church. He is available to speak about the camp's programs with children and adults during a children's sermon or Sunday School. Johnsonburg is a program center offering opportunities for youth and adults all year long, and Mike would love to share information about the Center with your church family.
