Growing up in New Jersey, and working from south to north along the east coast at a variety of camp and conference centers, Robin brings a wealth of experience in hospitality, program and environmental education to Johnsonburg. She has served as the Hospitality Director since January, 2015. Robin wants your experience at Jburg to be the best it can be and is here to make that happen! She also loves all types of dance, connecting with friends, traveling and movies. Ask Robin about any special requests for your group, just about any alum through the history of Johnsonburg, or how to tapdance!
Rhonda joined the team in January, 2016. Her ample experience in non-profit business is an asset to the operations of Johnsonburg. Rhonda likes organization, saving money and making connections for the business. In her spare time, she enjoys horses, helping people as an EMT, reading, her family and xx. Ask Rhonda when the calendar is open for your group to come to Jburg, xx or how you can make a charitable contribution to Johnsonburg!
Tom has seen all sides of Johnsonburg, from camper to seasonal staff member to serving as a transForming Leader. Along with his Youth Development & Camp Management and Adventure Education degrees from Green Mountain College, add to his position as Program Director. He loves cornhole, kendama, high ropes, wilderness adventures, coffee, and the New York Mets- his office glows orange and blue. His general enthusiasm for all things camp makes him the perfect fit for his job! Ask Tom about all things program at Johnsonburg, his favorite sport (guess!), or getting your group up on the High Ropes Course soon!
Elise Bates Russell
Elise enjoys all aspects of God’s ministry in the outdoors, but her passions include leadership development, nature exploration, wilderness trips and sustainable architectural design. This has grown out of a lifetime (almost!) of living and working at Presbyterian camps in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Michigan and Minnesota. One of her favorite quotes shared by a camper is: “I just like to hike in the woods to be near God.” Elise couldn’t agree more, affirming the power of outdoor ministry as a vital part of Christian education and faith formation for all ages.
She is a proud alumna of the College of Wooster and has a Masters in Architecture from the University of Michigan. She is part of the consultant team for Run River Enterprises and recently served as president of the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association (PCCCA), an organization serving camps and conference centers across the United States and Canada. Along with her husband and 3 daughters, Elise likes to travel, be outside, read, visit museums and historical sites, create and try new things. Ask Elise how you can remember Johnsonburg in your will or volunteer at Jburg soon!
Dining Services Manager
Erin grew up to many camps. She has spent the past 15 summers being a part of Johnsonburg and is very excited to work a full year. Erin graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a degree in Outdoor Ministries and Adventure Leadership. Camps have been a huge influence in Erin’s life and she hopes to run her own camp in the future. When Erin is not working she loves to play board and video games, explore caves, and eat sushi.
Jake is from Tennessee, this is his very first year at camp Johnsonburg. He was a college pitcher and he loves the Braves, not the Mets. In his free time he enjoys going to concerts, playing Xbox, and eating shushi with Erin!
The Board is comprised of 7 seats, one from each of the 7 Presbyteries (local governing bodies of the PC(USA)) and 8 at-large seats. A term is for three years.
